Understanding where to eat in Finale Ligure in autumn is simpler than it seems, and more complicated than the online rankings say. The beaches are empty, the village remains alive, and those returning from a path on the Manie or from a tour through the alleys of Finalborgo are looking for only one thing: a table that will make the evening worth it.
Out of season, however, the rules change. Some places close one day a week, others go on holiday in November without writing it anywhere, still others only set up one shift. Below you will find the addresses where we go, divided by area, with what you need to know before going out: where they are, what to order, when they are closed. Guide updated in October 2026.
Where to dine in Finalborgo: the taverns inside the walls
Finalborgo is the place for a long dinner. You park only once (or not at all, if you sleep inside the walls), and after dessert you walk back through the illuminated squares. If you want to understand why the village is at its best when the tourists leave, we talked about it in Finalborgo out of season.
Ai Cuattru Canti
Seven tables, the menu written on the blackboard, Ligurian home cooking: farinata, savory pies, stockfish, cuttlefish with potatoes when the time is right. A classic, and for good reason.
Things to know: Via Torcelli 22. In the evening there is only one shift, at 8pm: without a reservation it is difficult to find a place. Approximately around 30 euros per person.
At the Torchi
The table for the special occasion. Seafood and Ligurian cuisine, reported in the Michelin Guide 2026, important dinner prices.
Things to know: Via dell'Annunziata 12. High-end: to choose when there is something to celebrate, not for just any dinner.
Osteria del Cavolo
Ligurian cuisine revisited without losing its soul. Ravioli with pesto, refined dishes, intimate atmosphere.
Things to know: Via San Rocco 15. Closed on Wednesdays.
Under the Saint
Contemporary spaghetti: choose the pasta, then the sauce. Pesto, trofie, seafood proposals that change often. The right answer when you're hungry and don't want to decide between ten courses.
Things to know: Piazza Garibaldi 6. It doesn't take reservations, so it's also plan B when everything else is full. Closed on Tuesdays.
Lunch and aperitif in the village, without committing to two hours
At lunch, in autumn, on sunny days we are still outside. The evening, however, arrives early: the sun sets shortly after five, and the aperitif begins sooner than you think.
- Antico Pozzo Bistrot (Piazza San Biagio 8). It's worth the stop even just for the Ligurian minestrone: dense, fragrant, of those that taste like home. The thin focaccia with seeds is also good.
- Central Bar (Via Torcelli 28). Focaccia and brioche in the morning, a quick but well-made lunch in the heart of the village. The other breakfasts we like are in where to have breakfast in Finale Ligure.
- Peel. Our favorite aperitif, right outside the house.
- Ca' di Ni (Via Lancellotto 15). Aperitif in the residence garden, which often extends until dinner time. On warm October evenings it still works; when it cools down, better to call first.
Where to eat fish in Finale Ligure: the tables of Finale Marina
For fish you go down towards the sea. In autumn the seafront empties and a table is easier to find, but the good seats remain full on weekends.
Grotesque Tavern
Small and well-kept, with a more refined seafood cuisine linked to the territory: pasta with seafood, mixed fried food.
Things to know: Via Tommaso Pertica 23. Few seats, better to book.
Flavor of the Sea
Simple and well-made fish dishes, among the most popular tables in Finale Marina. The point here is not to amaze, but to do things well.
Things to know: Via Concezione 30.
Trattoria Gnabbri
It is not a fish restaurant, and that is precisely why it is here: a stone's throw from the Basilica of San Giovanni Battista, a trattoria of those that can now be counted on one hand. Minestrone, Ligurian rabbit, tagliolini with black sauce, pansoti with walnut sauce. Prices from times gone by.
Things to know: Via Pollupice 1. Opens only for dinner.
The hinterland in autumn: Le Manie, Perti and Calice Ligure
This is where autumn is felt on the plate. Wild boar, rabbit, pumpkin: the cuisine of the Finale hinterland is at its best when it's cool outside. And it's all within a quarter of an hour's drive, or less, from Finalborgo.
Trattoria Gambero Verde, at Manie
The name is misleading: fish has nothing to do with it. Ravioli and tagliolini with wild boar ragù, Ligurian-style rabbit, braised meat, and bitter orange tart to finish. Generous portions, light bill.
Things to know: on the Manie plateau, closed on Wednesdays. Perfect for lunch after a walk on the plateau.
The Grotto, at Manie
Homemade Ligurian cuisine, with vegetables and fruit from the garden. In the afternoon he also has a snack, which after a walk is a small celebration.
Things to know: Strada dell'Arma 15. Pay attention to the namesake in the city: the one we mean is on the plateau. If you get there on foot, the routes are in our ai guide paths between Finale Ligure and Varigotti.
Perti, under Castel Gavone
Perti is the hamlet just above Finalborgo, at the foot of the ruins of Castel Gavone. Two addresses, two atmospheres: the Osteria del Castel Gavone, in the square, and the Antica Osteria Perti Alto, hill cuisine with ricotta ravioli, pumpkin and rabbit gnocchi.
Things to know: the Osteria del Castel Gavone is closed on Tuesdays; from Monday to Friday it opens only for dinner, on weekends also for lunch.
Rookie, in Calice Ligure
A tavern run by young people under 30, with a menu that changes every week and zero kilometer products. Brandacujun, cuttlefish in zimino, braised lamb: the tradition of the Ponente seen with new eyes.
Things to know: Via alla Chiesa 5, Calice Ligure. Reduced hours (usually from Thursday to Monday for dinner, on Sunday also for lunch): check before going up.
Tips for eating well in Finale Ligure out of season
- Call in the morning, especially in November. The end-of-season holidays are almost never online, and the timetables on Google are not always updated. A phone call saves you from having a locked door in the evening.
- Mark the closing days. Tuesday and Wednesday are the most complicated evenings: Sotto il Santo and Castel Gavone close on Tuesdays, Osteria del Cavolo and Gambero Verde on Wednesdays.
- Book on Saturday evening the day before. If you are looking for where to dine in Finale Ligure on the weekend, remember that Ai Cuattru Canti has only one shift and Grotesque has few tables: the place is decided in advance.
- Hinterland for lunch, village for dinner. The trattorias of Manie and Perti can be enjoyed at midday, after a path. In the evening, Finalborgo has the advantage of being on foot, without looking for parking.
- Watch out for the first weekend of the month. The Finalborgo antiques market, on the first Saturday and Sunday of every month, brings people to the village: it is the weekend where booking matters most.
- Keep the beach for the warm season. Tables on the sand, like Bagni Finalpia, serve dinner only from April to September. In autumn it is best to focus on the village and the hinterland.
For the rest of the weekend, what to do and where to go if it rains, you can find everything in our weekend in Liguria in autumn.
Three things you perhaps don't know about Finalese cuisine
- The white here is not just Pigato. Lumassina (Mataòssu in dialect) is cultivated between Noli, Varigotti and Finale, a native white vine, fresh and tasty. The name comes from the lumasse, the snails with which it was traditionally combined.
- Autumn is the chinotto season. Chinotto di Savona, a Slow Food presidium, grows along the coast between Varazze and Pietra Ligure, including Finale, and is harvested from mid-September to the end of November. It is not eaten fresh, it is too bitter: it is found candied, in syrup or in jam.
- The brandacujun owes its name to a gesture. It is stockfish creamed with potatoes, typical of the Ponente area. “Brandare” is shaking the pot without a ladle; the "cujun", in tradition, was the least experienced sailor, who had to do it.
Where to eat in Finale Ligure, in the end
Choosing where to eat in Finale Ligure in autumn is above all a question of the area: the village for the long dinner, the sea for the fish, the hinterland for the warming dish. The rest is done by the season, which here removes the crowds and leaves the flavours.
After dinner, walking back is part of the pleasure. Bric44 it's within the walls of Finalborgo, a house for four a few steps from the taverns on this list: from dessert to sofa it's five minutes.
And if your next trip is further south, you can find the addresses of Circeo in where to eat in San Felice Circeo.
